The Loom
Turn two knobs. Watch thousands of multisigs lose keys. See the real odds of your M-of-N surviving ten years.

A 2-of-3 quorum has a ▮ chance of surviving a decade.
Turn a knob to begin.
Every key has a 3.3% chance of being lost each year.
That number comes from three independent hazards — the seed (device failure, bricked hardware), the person (death, incapacity, forgetting), and the place (fire, flood). Each starts near 1.1% a year; together they add up to ~3.3% per key. The faders below the screen let you change each one.
The Loom runs thousands of independent multisigs. For each, every key faces those odds month by month for ten years, and a lost key is never replaced. When fewer than M keys remain, the quorum can no longer sign and that multisig is lost. The big number is simply the share that made it to year ten; the staircases are the individual runs, the right panel is how the share settles as runs accumulate.
It’s the same model as the research paper, just live: more keys protect you from loss only if the threshold leaves room to lose some.

How Safe Is My Multisig?
An exercise in modeling p(lose quorum) with Monte Carlo simulation. The ColdCard hack brought a fresh, energized demand for multisigs under the assumption that a multisig setup is unequivocally safer than a single key. But is this strictly true? Doesn't it vary based on participants, threshold, lost keys, check-ins? In this article we build a framework to approximate p(lose quorum), or, in other words, to answer: how safe is your multisig setup?

What Is an Economic Node?
A post-mortem of BIP110 & an attempt to answer the question “what is an economic node?” Many decentralization metrics were brought up prior to activation. This piece defines the object those metrics missed, reviews various measurement frameworks, & conducts our own analysis. While the reachable independent node population hovers around ~27k clearnet nodes, the research indicates that the number of “economically relevant” nodes in a fork war might be closer to 10.
